Description

Sarouk is the name of the village 25 miles north of Sultanabad, now known as Arak in Iran. In the late 19th century, this was a high rug producing area. The Sarouk rug is similar to the Farahan and sometimes called Sarouk Farahan, like this one. These semi-formal designs, have great character and a balanced design. These rugs usually have a high knot count up to 240 knots per square inch and designs can be curvilinear or geometric in pattern. These Sarouk rugs have a cotton foundation and wool pile, which is lush, soft and luxurious.
