Since before the time of Christ, the Kurdish people inhabited in the 140,000 sq mile region of Western Iran, Turkey, Persian Azerbaijan, Soviet Caucasus and Iraq known as Kurdistan.  This Iranian nomadic tribe wove beautiful rugs that portrayed their diversity and adaptability.  The weavers were usually women, adopted the patterns of weaving from Caucasus including Kazak and the striped fields.  Their area rugs are distinguished in that they use a wide selection of colors.  Pure folk art is represented in these rugs which give them their unusual charm.  This rug is stunning in its details and a must see in our showroom.
