The Kurdish tribal rugs are known throughout the world by rug lovers. Their unique geometric style and earthy looks are a prized possession. These hand-knotted beautiful rugs are created by weavers from the eastern edge of Turkey in the Kurdistan region, as well as the Eastern part of Turkey near the Tauros Mountains of Northern Iraq. The weavers belong to different clans and the motifs woven into the rugs reflect their heritage. The medallion, floral or geometric patterns are called "Jaff", which you see in Kurdish vintage rugs. Weavers usually add many symbols to reflect their hopes and dreams for the future. This gives their rugs a very traditional or tribal look as well as featuring more colors.
