Originally woven in Afghanistan, these tribal Turkoman rugs are sought out by the modern rug collector. The Turkoman carpet found in many patterns, usually have allover geometric or ornamental designs. The designs change based on origin and the nomadic place in their tribe. The Teke pattern design is the most common, usually referred as Bukhara (or Bokhara). Set on a solid background of cardinal red, there are usually patterns of spheroid, cuboid or diamond shaped figures. These are made in rows and columns. These beautiful and elegant area rugs coordinate well with classic architectural and interior design.
