This Afshar Soumak is made by the Afshar tribe from southern Iran. These nomadic peoples, speaking mostly Turkish, create rugs that offer both flat and pile in the same rug creating a unique 3D appearance. These kilims are considered as some of the finest and most legendary examples of nomadic weaving from the region. Known for their craftsmanship, high quality weaving and unique aesthetic, these skillful weavers create a multi-textured surface in one loom.
