In the 12th century, the Tabriz rug became famous for its high level of craftsmanship with its simple and complex designs. These original Persian rugs were all woven in Tabriz. It is an ancient city located in north western Iran. Unlike the nomadic tribal rugs, Tabriz rugs are woven in rug-weaving centers in the city. Only the most talented weavers get to work in Tabriz.
