This beautiful Persian rug is named afters its city, Shiraz, in the province of Fars. Made by the tribal villagers that live near the city, these beautiful rugs mimic the Khorjin and some Gabbeh designs. These rugs tend to be courser in their feel as they are a somewhat looser weave utilizing the Persian knot. This type of carpet is one of the only ones that depict angular shaped birds known as nightingales, which symbolize contentment and happiness.
