The ancient city of Isfahan is the inspiration behind the Isfahan rug. Located near the foothills of the Zagros mountain range, Isfahan was the capital of Iran. This world famous city brings people from all over to see its art, architecture, mosques, palaces and bridges.  Travellers also love it for fine rugs, textiles, metal working and traditional food. These very tightly woven rugs have a very high knot count of 120 knots per inch and up. Popular designs include a central medallion with vines, flowers, vases, garden and tree of life.
