Unlike many rug names, the name Aryana doesn’t actually refer to a place, but rather it’s original origin is Sanskrit meaning “noble woman”. The original Aryana rug were mostly geometric in design and woven by nomadic Turkish and Mogul tribes. Todays designers weave these rugs in both geometric and curvelinear patterns.
A beautiful characteristic of these area rugs is the soft “abrashness” in the wool, which shows slight variation of color. Some of the natural dyes used are from indigo, ousparak, walnut husk, kesuphul, madder root and pomegranate. The Aryana carpet at Ruby Rugs is soft, sophisticated, elegant and very pleasing to the senses.
