The Qashqai nomads tribal weavers in the Zagros mountains are the original designers of the gabbeh rug we know today. The Kurds, Lurs and Bhaktiaris also wove these rugs.  The Persian word “gabbeh” means raw or natural and implies a rug that is more tribal, and coarsely knotted, known for both its tribal and contemporary looks.  Gabbehs come is a variety of colors and styles, made with handspun wool and natural dyes.  Their style usually demonstrates geometric, tribal, wildlife and even some floral patterns.  The gabbeh will add old world charm and modern style to any room.
