Originally these designs came from the Qashqai nomads tribal weavers in the Zagros mountains. The gabbeh rug is loved all around the world and known for its tribal and contemporary looks. The Persian word “gabbeh” means raw or natural and implies a rug that is more tribal, and coarsely knotted. This is in part what gives them their exquisite charm.
