65317 KURDISH RAHRAH SOUMAK RUG

These gorgeous flat-weave style rugs made by semi-nomadic weavers are different than their cousins, the Kilim. With a beautiful front and a ragged back, you can see the construction is hand-woven. These rugs are made with special hooks and needles which makes their construction unique. These rugs are uniquely geometric with attention to symbols. Their main motifs are the central diamond, cross, eye and animals.  Also known as Soumakh, Sumac, Sumak and Soumac, these rugs originally came from the western part of Iran including Kurdistan, Turkey and Kermanshah.
