Famed carpet weaver Haji Jalili from Marand, Iran was known for his incredible fine rug workmanship. It was during the last quarter of the 19th century that he made his designs. They were considered to be one of the finest carpets woven at the time in Pakistan and Persia. These rugs were coveted for their beautiful designs and lovely finish. Today, the Haji Jalili rug is usually a high knot count with 200 to 250 knots per square inch. These rugs often have lighter and softer colors including ivory, soft pinks and grays, wheat, gold and pale rust colors. Made with 100% handspun wool and natural dyes, these rugs may exhibit floral designs or contain beautiful medallions or other interesting patterns.
