It was the “Tekke” nomadic tribespeople that created the first Bokhara rugs. These gorgeous rugs originate from the Bokhara region of modern-day Uzbekistan. The distinctive geometric patterns of octagon, oval or diamond shaped motifs makes for a highly symbolic rug. The Tekke tribe also borrowed designs from the Salor tribe which was part of the Bokhara region of Central Asia. These rugs manufactured by everyone in the carpet weaving world, including India, Pakistan, Iran, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Afghanistan. The traditional red hues of the Orient are present in the Bokhara rugs. These beautiful area rugs are durable, long lasting and hand-knotted by experts who create strong Persian knots. 100% handspun wool on a cotton foundation
