Unlike many rug names, the name Aryana doesn’t actually refer to a place, but rather it’s original origin is Sanskrit meaning “noble woman”. We’ve added the word “Nur” to which means “light” in Arabic. Woven by the nomadic Turkmen and Mogul tribes of Northern Afghanistan, these rugs have tribal flair and beautiful sheen. The name Aryana describes the ancient Central Asian Region. Aryana rugs are both geometric and curvelinear in pattern, characterized by beautiful handspun wool and natural dyes. Walnut husk, madder root, indigo, kesuphul, ousparak and pomegranate are the origins of natural dyes in these rugs. Another characteristic of Aryana area rugs is the soft “abrashness” in the wool, which displays slight variation of color. The Aryana Gandhara carpet at Ruby Rugs is soft, sophisticated, elegant and very pleasing to the senses. Visit our beautiful showroom today to see more Aryana area rugs!
