65332 ANTIQUE KURDISH KILIM RUG
Since before the time of Christ, the Kurdish people inhabited in the 140,000 sq mile region of Western Iran, Turkey, Persian Azerbaijan, Soviet Caucasus and Iraq known as Kurdistan. This Iranian nomadic tribe wove beautiful rugs that portrayed their diversity and adaptability. The weavers were usually women, adopted the patterns of weaving from Caucasus including Kazak and the striped fields. Their rugs are distinguished in that they use a wide selection of colors.
