65011 ARYANA NUR RUG

Unlike many rug names, the name Aryana doesn’t actually refer to a place or city, but rather its origin is Sanskrit meaning “noble woman”. We’ve added the word “Nur” to which means “light” in Arabic. The original Aryana rug was woven by nomadic Turkish and Mogul tribes and was mostly geometric.  Today, we see these rugs in both geometric and curvelinear patterns, which are characterized by beautiful handspun wool and natural dyes including walnut husk, indigo, kesuphul, ousparak and pomegranate.  Another characteristic of these beautiful area rugs is the soft “abrashness” in the wool, which shows slight variation of color.  The Aryana Nur carpet at Ruby Rugs is sophisticated, soft, elegant and very pleasing to the senses.
