65009 ARYANA GANDHARA RUG

This ancient name for Afghanistan and parts of Persia, Beluchistan and central Asia describes exquisite beauty in area rugs.  The original Aryana rug was woven by nomadic Turkish and Mogul tribes and was mostly geometric.  Today, we see these rugs in both geometric and curvelinear patterns, which are characterized by beautiful handspun wool and natural dyes including walnut husk, indigo, kesuphul, ousparak and pomegranate.  Another characteristic of these beautiful area rugs is the soft “abrashness” in the wool, which shows slight variation of color.
